I taught philosophy of design at the Department of the Built Environment of the Technical University, Eindhoven. My role was to examine the thinking of the student analytically and critically at the moment that thinking engages practice through theory. I graduated in Art History at the University of Leiden in 1988, specializing in Art Theory and Aesthetics. In 1996 I defended my doctorate, which attempted to confront the subject of architectural design and its role in society with philosophical analysis. I never looked back since. I have a special interest in the relationship between spatial practice, language and design, my research is concerned with the possibility of judging designs and design decisions from the perspective of a developing ontology of use.
